What is a Funeral Plan?

A prepaid funeral plan is a simple way of paying for your own funeral and securing the cost of a funeral at today’s prices. For those you leave behind, planning your funeral is a caring and selfless act.

It’s practical, sensible and should be an essential part of your end-of-life financial planning.

A plan can save your family worry and expense and help make things easier for your loved ones at a difficult time. When the time comes, just one phone call to your funeral director is all that’s needed.

Everything will then be taken care of, relieving your family of the stress and financial worry they may otherwise have to face.

Personal your plan to suit you

A funeral plan allows you to decide certain details of your funeral and can take care of the following arrangements such as funeral director fees, type of coffin, transport arrangements and what you want to happen at your funeral.

You can also include a contribution to third party costs such as for the cremation or burial, flowers and payments to a minister/celebrant.

It allows you to make a record of your preferences for the service itself, whether this includes any special readings and music you’d like. You can add in as much or as little detail as you wish.

Paying for your funeral plan

You can spread the cost of your funeral plan or make a one-off payment. The costs covered by a funeral plan vary depending on the type of plan you choose. It is important to understand exactly what your chosen funeral plan will cover once you die.

Once a plan has been chosen, payment arrangements agreed and your chosen funeral director confirmed, you can rest assured that your funeral wishes will be fulfilled.
